Paper Pumpkin: Wildflower Wishes

Wednesday, February 21, 2018
Hey stampers!  Today I am so excited to be showing off the February 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit!!  For some reason there was an issue with my postal carrier this past week, plus with Monday being a holiday, my kit was delayed and delivered late yesterday afternoon.  I have already been seeing some cute creations and couldn't wait to tear into the box myself.

This month's kit is called Wildflower Wishes.  I love the name!!  When I first opened up the box this sweet little reminder was on top.

Let this be YOUR reminder to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin by March 10th to receive the special 5th anniversary Paper Pumpkin kit!!  Not only is it going to come in a special box but there will also be a free gift!  Since I was one of the winners of the Red Box Challenge I am one of 10 lucky stampers that will receive their kit early.  I cannot WAIT to see what Stampin' Up! has in store!!  I will include a link at the bottom of this post and you can always message me (in the sidebar) if you have any questions.

Take a look at what's inside the February 2018 kit:

We've been having a ton of rain and flooding the past few day so when I saw the beautiful bright flowers my spirit was instantly uplifted.  I wanted to make all three of the sample cards but I've had a horrible migraine since last week, which has severely limited how much I do, but I was able to put a quick thank you card together.

I always follow along with the YouTube video that Stampin' Up makes every month, so my sample might look a little different than the one pictured on the cover of the kit.  I also like tweaking the little details to make the cards more my own.

I have never been a fan of Garden Green (I'm more of an Old Olive gal myself) but after stamping the sentiment on the vellum (which I LOVE) and on the patterned paper I could see myself converting!  It's a gorgeous color!

I have been seeing this technique that's been used on the main sentiment a lot lately and just love it.  Having the bright patterned paper peeking through gives just enough pop of flowers and bright, beautiful colors to the mainly monochromatic card.  I also love the shape of the thank you panel itself and that twine with the vellum leaves is the perfect accent.

This card is subtle yet beautiful.  I simply adore it!  I would've never though this color combo would work but it really does!

I have some alternative ideas for this kit that I will hopefully be able to post in the coming week.  The stamp set is wonderful and I really love the embellishments in this kit.  If I can get rid of this stinkin' migraine I'll be so much better! :)

My Daisy Valentine

Wednesday, February 14, 2018
Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have a quick little non-traditional Valentine card for you today featuring the Daisy Delight bundle!  With all this cold weather we've been having lately I was in the mood for something that would remind me that spring is on its way!

I have been in love with daisies since I was a little girl.  Orchids are actually my favorite flower but daisies are a very close second.  I just adore their simplicity.  Daisies are just happy flowers.  I've had the Daisy Delight bundle for a few months now but am just not getting a chance to play with it.  I. Am. In. Love.

I wanted to keep this card incredibly simple since I am still not feeling great.  I apologize for not having the exact dimensions but if you ask I can measure them for you. ;)

When I sat down to make this card I really wanted to highlight the daisy and the Delightful Daisy designer series paper, which is why I placed the daisy to the side.  I stamped two daisies in Daffodil Delight, punched them out using the daisy punch included in the Daisy Delight bundle, and popped it up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I also used my bone folder to curl the edges just a bit to give it more of a flower feel.  I stamped the leaves onto Old Olive cardstock using Night of Navy ink and fussy cut them out.

The flower looked a little bare so I found some So Saffron grosgrain ribbon (retired) in my stash and cut a few pieces to place underneath the daisy which really helps the yellow pop.  I cut the love from the Sunshines Wishes thinlit die set in Night of Navy using my Big Shot, and added a few pearls to the center of the daisy for a little subtle bling.

I decided to stick with the Daisy Delight stamp set and decorate the inside of my card and not opt for a Valentine's-themed sentiment since our family doesn't really celebrate Valentine's Day (and if we do it's more with candy and less with cards).  The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy and the little daisy border is stamped in Daffodil Delight.

I hope you all have a LOVEly Valentine's Day!

Paper Pumpkin Red Box Challenge 2018

Tuesday, January 30, 2018
I have had a rough few weeks and am not feeling the greatest but I had to pop on here really quick and show off my entry for the Paper Pumpkin Red Box Challenge!  Stampin' Up issued a wonderful challenge: to create an alternative creation using a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  Since I have quite the collection of kits that are unfinished I decided to grab one of my favorites, which is the July 2017 kit entitled Positively Picturesque.

When I first saw this kit I thought it would go perfectly with the Up & Away Thinlit dies and it totally does!  The little cloud stamp included in the kit makes the perfect background for my little hot air balloon.  Everything that you see in included with the kit with the exception of the Pear Pizzazz hot air balloon, Real Red heart, and the Smoky Slate Gingham ribbon.

Today was the last day to enter the challenge so I barely got my entry in but I'm so happy I did.  I am also happy to report that you can still purchase the July 2017 Positively Picturesque Paper Pumpkin kit if you are a current Paper Pumpkin subscriber.  If you're not that is easy to remedy!  Just follow THIS LINK to subscribe.  It only takes a few minutes and you'll receive the February kit which will be shipping February 10th!

Since we are in Sale-A-Bration you can earn free product when you sign up for a Paper Pumpkin prepaid subscription!  Click HERE for all the details!

If anyone else played along with the Red Box Challenge please leave a comment below with the link to your creations.  I would love to see them!

Have a blessed day and happy stamping!

Happy Birthday, Pumpkin!

Monday, October 23, 2017
My one and only sweet, amazing, wonderful, and beautiful sister celebrated her birthday this last week!  We are only 17 months apart so we were pretty much raised as twins.

I love this girl more than words can say.  There are so many things I love about her.  She just gets me.  I don't even have to say a word and she will know what's on my mind.  We have the exact same laugh.  Identical.  It's scary.

I also love that over the past ten years she has kept every one of the cards I've made her (awww!!) and last night I was able to give her another one to add to the collection.

In all the years I've been stamping I don't remember ever making my sister a "halloweeny" card and since my Spooky Night designer paper has been on my desk staring at me for awhile I thought it was time.

This card is also for two challenges this week!  The first challenge is for this week's City Crafters Challenge which is pumpkins!  This is also my entry for this week's Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers (congrats Jeanette!).  Every week I want to participate and every week something always comes up BUT this week was no excuses, especially when I saw THIS card!

I changed the size of the card (mine is 4x4) and since I do not have any green polka dot patterned paper I opted for the polka dot pattern from the Spooky Night designer series paper pack but the rest of the colors I tried to stay as close to Jeanette's card as possible.  I also realized I do not have any sentiments with the word pumpkin in it so I went with a simple Happy Birthday from my Sunshine Sayings stamp set.

The pumpkins are die cut from the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits and since I have no washi tape that would coordinate, I pulled out some Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon (sorry, it's retired) and attached it with a simple staple.

To add the smallest little bling, I put a black sequin on the orange pumpkin and popped the entire panel up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

I haven't had a chance to stamp in so long and was surprised at how quick this came together!  I am hoping to do a matching scrapbook page sometime this week using the same paper.  I am now officially in love with this paper. Seriously.
